In 2001, FEMA warned that a hurricane striking New Orleans was one of the three most likely disasters in the U.S. But the Bush administration cut New Orleans flood control funding by 44 percent to pay for the Iraq war.So what were the other two disasters?
A massive earthquake in SF, and a terrorist attack in NYC. I think the funding for one of those might have been increased a bit since then.
Also, here's an article from Scientific American in 2001 that predicts exactly what just happened in New Orleans.
